Mister Best In Breed, thank you very much

It was a long 525 mile drive home this afternoon, but this morning I'm proud and shocked to mention that I was named Best in Breed in the Spinone class at the Sangre De Cristo dog show in Las Lunas, New Mexico. It's the first time that's ever happened to me. I got a neat ribbon and a cool little medal, too. OK, so there was only one other Spinone, but let's not tell anyone that. And she beat me on Saturday morning. And she's only like 9 months old. But she's already earned her championship title and I did better today. WOOF! WOOF!

That photo above is me looking a little goofy against an adobe wall on Canyon Road in Santa Fe taken yesterday afternoon... then again I often look a little goofy. That's why my people love me.

To New Mexico!

So my people gave me a bath today which means I'm probably headed for a show soon. So a few minutes ago I woofed at them -- like this, "Woof?" -- and sure enough, they tell me I'm going to New Mexico tomorrow. That's a state I've never been in before. I was born in Iowa and I've been to Nebraska, Colorado (where I live, of course), Wyoming, Kansas and Missouri. And after tomorrow, I'll have been to New Mexico, too. I like to drive.

Second place

So, I got second place -- twice -- in my return to the show ring yesterday and today at the Boulder/Flatirons show down in Longmont. That woman I live with just said she thinks the show leash sucks all my personality out, but the truth is I just like to see her sweat. And I was tired playing with my pseudocousin Amigo, so that's why I tried to sit down today. I guess that's some big-time no-no in the ring. As if! The judge was really really nice. And the pointers that were after us were so funny. At least their people were. Oh, and second place, out of two dogs. Big deal.

The good news is my Spinone friend Winston finished his championship points today, so that's cool. I got to see Vinny again too (but, sadly, not Rico) and he (Vinny, and Rico too) has a new baby boy living at his house, which I guess is also cool. Right now, though, it's so hot, I think I'll go sleep until tomorrow.
