Zamboni?

Taking my sister dogs and my guy for a walk tonight, and a small red car pulls up and yells at the big guy, "Hey, what kind of a dog is that?"

"Spinone," he says.

"What?" says the guy in the car?

"A spinone. An Italian hunting dog," my guy says.

"Huh." The guy drove off. I guess he liked me.

Two blocks later, another guy walking another dog yells across the street.

"Hey, is that an otterhound?"

Otterhound? Puh-lease.

"No, he's a spinone. Taller, and a bit less hairy."

Otterhound. C'mon. I mean really.

Then, back at the house, my favorite lady says she was talking dogs with a person today and mentioned she had me, a spinone, and this other person said, "Oh yeah, I know them, but whenever I try to think of their name, I think Zamboni."

Amigo went home

And now it's kind of quiet and lonely here. He certainly livened up the place.

Happy birthday, America

Happy birthday, America. People in the neighborhood started celebrating last night with all sorts of firecrakers and booming noises. I can do without that, thank you very much. It drives my fake sister dogs Rosie and Ruth Ann crazy. They bark and bark and bark so a guy can't sleep.

Speaking of Ruth Ann, it's her birthday today. She's 105 -- that's 15 in human years!

And My Lady says I'm supposed to say hi to all the readers of the Spinone News and the Spinone Club of America who may have come to visit. Thanks to Kimber, Jeff and Vinny for letting people know about my blog. So: Howdy!

From left, that's Winston, Vinny and me. Winston won again today over in Loveland.
