John Cabot

Terry has started calling me Westley. Seems odd, since my name is Quattro Zampe Caboto. I'm named after Giovanni Caboto, who you probably learned about in school as a British explorer named John Cabot. He really was from Italy, which is where my mom and grandparents are from too. Inspired by his countryman Christopher Columbus, Giovanni too tried to sail to America. He got as far as Iceland in 1496, made it to North America in 1497, and then sailed again for America in 1498. Nothing was ever heard of him again. I'd like to be an explorer like my namesake, but I hope I don't get lost at sea.

Many of my brothers and sisters are going off to live with other families. There's just a few of us left here now in Iowa. There were ten of us. Now there's just a few left.
