Colorado Springs

What an adventure we had yesterday. We got up super early, the big guy and me. We were on the road by about 6:30 a.m. and headed south through low clouds and intermitten rain. We stopped only briefly at a good smelling place in a pine forest, then got back in the car for another half hour. We arrived at a parking lot at Colorado Springs where the first guys I saw were Vinnie and Winston. Another dog show!

Only this time, the big guy held my lead as we pranced through the ring. First Winston went, then me, the Vinnie and I think Argyle. Plus my cute little spinone girlfriend dog was there too. Five spinoni! The people called it a major, and I didn't do that good. But it was my first major, but mostly it was the first time the big guy held the lead. So when the judge wanted to check me out, I wanted to sit. Twice. But then I stood, and she said nice things to me, and then we ran around again, all us boy dogs, and then Vinnie won! His first major victory, too.

And then as quick as that, we got back in the car and drove the two hours back to my house and yard, where I spent a lot of the afternoon sleeping in my crate because my girl went dancing and all the people went with her. But Patches came to visit and taunt me through the crate. Woof! But all us dogs went for a nice twilight walk later.

Longmont Day 2

So we came back to the Longmont show today and it wasn't quite as wet or muddy, which was nice. I didn't do as well as yesterday when I took reserve winner; today I only won my age group (for lack of a better term) as I was the only dog. Vinnie took the overall crown. Afterward we came home and went for a nice walk on the river trail with Ruth Ann and Rosie. Next week: Colorado Springs!

Longmont Day One

My people took me to Longmont for a show today. It was absoultely pouring cats and frogs -- dogs would never fall from the sky -- all day yesterday and all day today and I must say, with all those wet dogs in that big fairgrounds barn, whew, I've never smelt so much wet dog smell at one time. Woof! Yum! Heaven!

Anyway, finally I had to get in the ring and while the judge man said I still need to be "peopled" a bit more since I still leaned a bit into Kristen when he touched me, I did pretty okay. I won two ribbons again, best (and only) puppy dog 12-18 months (since I'm now 12 months old...) and then for some reason the judge thought I was best boy dog today, an upset choice over my pal Vinnie. Sorry pal! There's no accounting for judge's choices sometimes. I can't figure it out yet. Oh well. It was fun.

We'll be back in Longmont early tomorrow -- 9;15 a.m. -- if you find yourself wanting to see the someday world famous Westley the Spinone Dog -- me! in person. Or, in canineosity, I guess, since I'm not a person. Woof woof!
